No one can do it all by himself. We need the input of others, their time, their effort, their knowledge, experience, insight, support and advice. Sometimes we need there approval too.
This applies in our personal lives as well as work.
So how can you reach out to people so that they want to support you? Without the willing cooperation of those around you, many tasks can be difficult to accomplish.

Maintain your own energy levels high. Energetic people draw others to them. Get in touch with what energises you. Focus on what you enjoy about your job and life in general. No one wants to cooperate with someone who is fed up with what they are doing. Listen to music that re-energises you, visit places that you love.
Make sure your body language communicates trust and energy. A warm smile and open body language.
Be close to people. Find out what they want in life, their values, what excites them. Value them and appreciate their qualities.
Support others with their own goals.
Draw people to you by your vision. That is what Obama did. What is your vision for a project you are undertaking? If you can communicate your vision in a way that sounds interesting to others, then they will support you.
Give people challenging tasks, not just the details you have not time for. Challenge them and tell them why you believe in them. Give people tasks where they can use their special qualities and tasks.
Let people know you are available for them, if they need your input.
